0012|     RELATING TO LIBRARY SERVICES; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR LIBRARY

0013|     SERVICES STATEWIDE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATIONS.--The amounts in Subsections A
    |
0017|     through C of this section are appropriated from the general fund
    |
0018|     to the library division of the office of cultural affairs for
    |
0019|     expenditure in fiscal years 1996 and 1997 for the purposes
    |
0020|     described in Subsections A through C of this section.  Any
    |
0021|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0022|     fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.  The
    |
0023|     following amounts are appropriated for the following purposes:
    |
0024|            A.  one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to
    |
0025|     provide technical assistance and training on electronic
    |
0001|     information resources for libraries statewide; 
    |
0002|            B.  seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) to
    |
0003|     develop and strengthen book and document delivery systems in
    |
0004|     libraries statewide; and
    |
0005|            C.  twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to add
    |
0006|     smaller libraries in the state to participate in the statewide
    |
0007|     interlibrary loan program.
    |
0008|       Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0009|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
