0017|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0018|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred eighty-five
    |
0019|     thousand dollars ($185,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0020|     fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for
    |
0021|     expenditure in fiscal year 1997 for the purpose of paying
    |
0022|     operational and equipment costs necessary to meet gender equity
    |
0023|     requirements for intercollegiate athletics imposed by Title IX. 
    |
0024|     Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0025|     fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
