APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars | 0017| ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state | 0018| department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year | 0019| 1997 for the purpose of contracting with a nonprofit corporation | 0020| to work with the Taos, Gadsden, Las Vegas, Grants and Silver | 0021| City school districts for services to provide an individualized | 0022| alternative curriculum, including job skills training and work | 0023| experience, to at-risk students in an effort to curb the dropout | 0024| rate and prevent the need to further burden our social services | 0025| system with individuals lacking workplace skills. The nonprofit | 0001| corporation receiving the money shall submit a report indicating | 0002| progress and successes with the students.
