0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH DROPOUT PREVENTION PROGRAMS

0013|     AT CERTAIN HIGH SCHOOLS IN BERNALILLO AND VALENCIA COUNTIES.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars
    |
0017|     ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
    |
0018|     department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0019|     1997 for the purpose of contracting with a private nonprofit
    |
0020|     organization to establish dropout prevention programs at
    |
0021|     Albuquerque, Cibola, Del Norte, Highland, Manzano, Rio Grande
    |
0022|     and West Mesa high schools in Bernalillo county and Los Lunas
    |
0023|     high school in Valencia county.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0024|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to
    |
0025|     the general fund.
