0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE ENGINEER TO INSTITUTE A

0013|     HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEY OF THE LOWER RIO GRANDE BASIN.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred twenty-five
    |
0017|     thousand dollars ($425,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0018|     fund to the state engineer for expenditure in fiscal year 1997
    |
0019|     for the purpose of conducting the planning and preparation for
    |
0020|     the implementation of a hydrographic survey of the lower Rio
    |
0021|     Grande basin, for conducting historical research of the basin
    |
0022|     and for funding costs and fees associated with adjudication. 
    |
0023|     Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0024|     fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
