0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CREATE A JOINT DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

0013|     TO INCREASE JOBS, INCOME AND TAX BASE IN DONA ANA COUNTY TO AID

0014|     IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION ACTIVITIES

0015|     THROUGHOUT THE STATE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0017|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0018|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand
    |
0019|     dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0020|     board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure
    |
0021|     in fiscal years 1996 and 1997 for the purpose of conducting a
    |
0022|     joint demonstration project with the city of Las Cruces to
    |
0023|     evaluate and assist in site location selection for target types
    |
0024|     of commercial or industrial business to increase jobs, income
    |
0025|     and the tax base in Dona Ana county.  This system can then be
    |
0001|     used to aid in economic development planning and implementation
    |
0002|     activities throughout the state.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0003|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to
    |
0004|     the general fund.
    |
0005|       Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0006|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
