0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE A SALARY INCREASE FOR ALL

0013|     CERTIFIED SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Thirteen million three hundred
    |
0017|     eighty-nine thousand two hundred dollars ($13,389,200) is
    |
0018|     appropriated from the general fund to the state department of
    |
0019|     public education for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 for the
    |
0020|     purpose of providing a one-time salary increase to all certified
    |
0021|     school instructors.  The state department of public education
    |
0022|     shall make a distribution to each school district to enable each
    |
0023|     district to provide a one-time six hundred dollar ($600) salary
    |
0024|     increase to each certified school instructor in the district,
    |
0025|     inclusive of the employee's contribution for social security,
    |
0001|     educational retirement and any salary increment for which the
    |
0002|     certified school instructor would otherwise be eligible.  Any
    |
0003|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0004|     fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
