0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH A DEMOGRAPHIC BORDER POLICY

0013|     INITIATIVE REGARDING THE MEXICO AND NEW MEXICO BORDER.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars
    |
0017|     ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
    |
0018|     highway and transportation department for expenditure in fiscal
    |
0019|     year 1997 for the purpose of establishing a demographic border
    |
0020|     policy initiative for the state of New Mexico regarding the
    |
0021|     Mexico and New Mexico border coordinated by the alliance for
    |
0022|     transportation research.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0023|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the
    |
0024|     general fund.
