Mr. President:
Your FINANCE COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 791
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation
that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 1, line 12, strike "TO PROVIDE FOR" and strike lines
13 through 15 in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof "TO
AUTHORIZE CERTAIN BOARDS OF REGENTS TO CONSIDER CERTAIN TEXAS
RESIDENTS AS RESIDENT STUDENTS FOR TUITION, BUDGET AND REVENUE
PURPOSES.".
2. On page 2, strike lines 15 through 18 in their entirety and
insert in lieu thereof the following new subsection:
"D. For the purposes of tuition payment and budget and revenue
calculations, the board of regents of any post-secondary, state
educational institution, as defined in Article 12, Section 11 of the
constitution of New Mexico, may determine that "resident student"
includes any Texas resident who resides within a one hundred thirty-five mile radius of that institution.".
