RILEY | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| | 0011| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0012| DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 18 THROUGH 24 AS NEW MEXICO | 0013| SCIENCE BOWL WEEK. | 0014| | 0015| WHEREAS, on February 24, 1996, thirty-four high school | 0016| teams from across the state will convene in Albuquerque to | 0017| compete in the science bowl; and | 0018| WHEREAS, the New Mexico science bowl is a national event | 0019| aimed at providing a forum for high school students to showcase | 0020| their understanding of the observation, identification, | 0021| description, experimental investigation and theoretical | 0022| explanation of natural phenomena known to the general public as | 0023| the world of science, by competing in teams against other New | 0024| Mexico high schools; and | 0025| WHEREAS, the New Mexico science bowl is sponsored by Los | 0001| Alamos national laboratory and Sandia national laboratories; and | 0002| WHEREAS, the winning New Mexico team will be awarded an | 0003| all-expense paid trip to Orlando, Florida to compete in the | 0004| national science bowl, which will be held the week of May 3 | 0005| through May 6, 1996; | 0006| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE | 0007| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that it designate the week of February 18 | 0008| through 24, 1996 as New Mexico science bowl week; and | 0009| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislature recognize and | 0010| commend the participating high school students from across the | 0011| state of New Mexico for their extraordinary knowledge and love | 0012| of the world of science. | 0013|  |
