0012|     REQUESTING THAT THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT INCLUDE EXPANDED
    |
0013|     EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES FOR REIMBURSEMENT UNDER MEDICAID OR
    |
0014|     ITS SUCCESSOR PROGRAM.

0016|       WHEREAS, expanded emergency medical services paramedics are
    |
0017|     now providing invaluable health care in communities in New
    |
0018|     Mexico; and
    |
0019|       WHEREAS, the quality of these pilot programs promises
    |
0020|     expansion of this otherwise unavailable health care service to

    |
0021|     other rural communities; and
    |
0022|       WHEREAS, these services are very likely to reduce high
    |
0023|     emergency and acute care costs; and
    |
0024|       WHEREAS, the medicaid program now recognizes and reimburses
    |
0025|     most eligible emergency medical services;
    |
0001|       NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
    |
0002|     STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the human services department and the
    |
0003|     medicaid advisory group recognize and recommend reimbursement
    |
0004|     under medicaid or its successor program for appropriately
    |
0005|     utilized expanded emergency medical services in otherwise
    |
0006|     underserved rural communities; and
    |
0007|       BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be sent
    |
0008|     to the secretary of human services, the medicaid advisory group
    |
0009|     and the emergency medical services bureau of the community
    |
0010|     health systems division of the department of health.
