ROMERO | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| | 0011| A MEMORIAL | 0012| REQUESTING THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE, BERNALILLO COUNTY AND THE | 0013| ALBUQUERQUE PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO COOPERATE IN A LITTER CLEANUP | 0014| CAMPAIGN. | 0015| | 0016| WHEREAS, litter has become a problem throughout the | 0017| metropolitan area; and | 0018| WHEREAS, young people need constructive activities to | 0019| funnel their energy into positive directions; and | 0020| WHEREAS, school activities need financial support from the | 0021| community; and | 0022| WHEREAS, recycling waste can generate income as well as | 0023| clean unsightly streets and public areas; | 0024| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE | 0025| OF NEW MEXICO that the city of Albuquerque, Bernalillo county | 0001| and the Albuquerque public schools be requested to cooperate in | 0002| developing a program whereby students are encouraged to help | 0003| clean up litter by receiving payments for after-school work to | 0004| clean the city of litter and to receive whatever proceeds are | 0005| earned from recycling trash collected for extracurricular school | 0006| activities; and | 0007| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0008| transmitted to the mayor of Albuquerque, the Bernalillo county | 0009| commission and the Albuquerque public school board. | 0010|  |
