SANCHEZ | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| | 0011| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0012| REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR AND THE SECRETARY OF STATE TO ISSUE AND | 0013| PROCLAIM THAT THE QUESTION OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO BE "RED OR | 0014| GREEN?". | 0015| | 0016| WHEREAS, the forty-second legislature by near unanimous | 0017| action adopted House Bill 716, which proposed an official state | 0018| question of "Red or Green?"; and | 0019| WHEREAS, it is of significant financial gain and national | 0020| and international recognition to the state of New Mexico to make | 0021| the official question asked in our state "Red or Green?"; and | 0022| WHEREAS, New Mexico is recognized as the state of "firsts" | 0023| and would be the only state to adopt an official state question; | 0024| and | 0025| WHEREAS, tourists are attracted to New Mexico because of | 0001| its rich cultural heritage and enchantment and quickly learn the | 0002| importance of the question "Red or Green?"; and | 0003| WHEREAS, all New Mexicans recognize the importance of chile | 0004| to our culture and rich heritage and understand that all New | 0005| Mexicans prefer either Red or Green; | 0006| WHEREAS, New Mexico is the only state in the union in which | 0007| the question is asked, and New Mexico, therefore, would move to | 0008| the forefront in being recognized as the only state that takes | 0009| its choice of Red or Green chile seriously; | 0010| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE | 0011| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the governor and the secretary of state | 0012| be requested to issue and proclaim that the official question of | 0013| the state of New Mexico be "Red or Green?". | 0014| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be sent | 0015| to the governor and secretary of state. | 0016| - 2 - |
