0011| RELATING TO WORKING CONDITIONS; PROVIDING FOR PARENTAL LEAVE

0012| FOR NON-ATHLETIC SCHOOL ACTIVITIES.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0015| Section 1. PUBLIC EMPLOYEES--PARENTAL LEAVE.--Each
|
0016| employer shall permit all permanent employees to take up to
|
0017| eight hours of noncumulative leave, without loss of pay, during
|
0018| each school year for each of the employee's children for the
|
0019| purpose of attending non-athletic activities of the school in
|
0020| which that child participates and that are conducted during the
|
0021| employee's hours of work. This leave shall be in addition to
|
0022| any other holiday or annual leave provided for by law or rule.
|
0023| For purposes of this section, "employer" means every state
|
0024| agency or board responsible for personnel policy, and includes
|
0025| the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government,
|
0001| post-secondary educational institutions and all political
|
0002| subdivisions of the state. For purposes of this section,
|
0003| "child" means a natural, adopted or foster child; a stepchild
|
0004| or a legal ward who is a pupil in a public school.
|
0005| Section 2. PRIVATE EMPLOYEES--PARENTAL LEAVE.--Each
|

|
0019| legal ward who is a pupil in a public school.
