0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CONTINUE THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

0012|     DIVERSION PROGRAM IN THE FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT; DECLARING AN

0013|     EMERGENCY.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred seventy-three
    |
0017|     thousand dollars ($173,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0018|     fund to the district attorney's office for the first judicial
    |
0019|     district for expenditure in fiscal years 1997 and 1998 to
    |
0020|     continue the domestic violence diversion program.  Any
    |
0021|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0022|     fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
    |
0023|          Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0024|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
