0011| MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ASSIST NEW MEXICO TEACHERS IN THE

0012| TEACHING OF GEOGRAPHY.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015| Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars
|
0016| ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
|
0017| commission on higher education for expenditure in fiscal year
|
0018| 1998 for the purpose of providing summer institutes and ongoing
|
0019| assistance to New Mexico teachers in teaching and promoting the
|
0020| teaching of geography. This appropriation is contingent upon
|
0021| matching funds and a donation of instructional geography
|
0022| materials from the national geographic society. Any unexpended
|
0023| or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year
|
0024| 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
