0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO HEALTH POLICY

0012|     COMMISSION.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0016|               A.  Five hundred seventy-five thousand dollars
    |
0017|     ($575,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New
    |
0018|     Mexico health policy commission for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0019|     1998 in the following amounts for the following purposes:
    |
0020|                    (1)  one hundred seventy-five thousand dollars
    |
0021|     ($175,000) to establish a centralized data system to track the
    |
0022|     geographic availability of health services, to assess the
    |
0023|     effectiveness of existing initiatives, to give priority based
    |
0024|     on need to geographic areas and health professions and to
    |
0025|     identify opportunities to improve current resources;
    |
0001|                    (2)  one hundred fifty thousand dollars
    |
0002|     ($150,000) to conduct periodic surveys to collect data on
    |
0003|     insurance coverage and health care access to better assess the
    |
0004|     impact of policy changes and assist in future state health care
    |
0005|     planning; and
    |
0006|                    (3)  two hundred fifty thousand dollars
    |
0007|     ($250,000) to compile, analyze and disseminate information
    |
0008|     regarding satisfaction with and quality of various health plans
    |
0009|     offered in the state to help New Mexico consumers make
    |
0010|     appropriate health care decisions.
    |
0011|               B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining
    |
0012|     at the end of fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general
    |
0013|     fund.
