0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO
    |
0012|     CONTRACT WITH CIBOLA COUNTY TO HOUSE ADDITIONAL INMATES AT THE
    |
0013|     CIBLOLA COUNTY CORRECTIONS CENTER.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION TO HOUSE INMATES--CONTRACT
    |
0017|     PROVISIONS.--
    |
0018|               A.  Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated
    |
0019|     from the general fund to the corrections department for
    |

0020|     expenditure in fiscal year 1998 to contract with Cibola county
    |
0021|     to house additional inmates at the Cibola county corrections
    |
0022|     center.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at
    |
0023|     the end of fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
    |
0024|               B.  The contract entered into pursuant to Subsection
    |
0025|     A of this section shall provide:
    |
0001|                    (1)  that the total number of state inmates
    |
0002|     housed at the Cibola county corrections center shall equal five
    |
0003|     hundred fifty-two medium security inmates and one hundred
    |
0004|     seventy-six minimum restrict inmates; and
    |
0005|                    (2)  that the corrections department shall not
    |
0006|     reduce the number of inmates housed at the Cibola county
    |
0007|     corrections center below the numbers specified in Paragraph (1)
    |
0008|     of this subsection unless it has first removed all similarly
    |
0009|     classified state inmates from all other state, private or
    |
0010|     county operated correctional facilities.
    |
0011|          Section 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the
    |
0012|     provisions of this act is July 1, 1997.
