0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A PROGRAM TO PERMIT ACQUISITION OF

0012|     A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA IN A COLLEGE SETTING THROUGH THE SANTA FE

0013|     PUBLIC SCHOOLS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred forty-three
    |
0017|     thousand dollars ($243,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0018|     fund to the state department of public education for
    |
0019|     expenditure in fiscal years 1997 and 1998 for the purpose of
    |
0020|     supporting a program to permit students to complete their high
    |
0021|     school diploma requirements while preparing for an associate of
    |
0022|     arts college degree through the Santa Fe public schools.  Any
    |
0023|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0024|     fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
    |
0025|          Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0001|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
