0011| REQUESTING THE STATE PARK AND RECREATION DIVISION OF THE

0012| ENERGY, MINERALS AND NATURAL RESOURCES DEPARTMENT TO REOPEN

0013| WILLIE CHAVEZ STATE PARK.

0015| WHEREAS, Senator Willie Chavez state park is located in
|
0016| Valencia county between Belen and Rio Grande estates; and
|
0017| WHEREAS, there are no other state recreation facilities or
|
0018| campsites in the area that provide citizens and visitors a
|
0019| chance to enjoy and learn about the Rio Grande bosque habitat;
|
0020| and
|
0021| WHEREAS, the state has made a very large and significant
|
0022| investment in establishment of the park; and
|
0023| WHEREAS, closure of the park is shortsighted and fiscally
|
0024| irresponsible since it wastes the money and resources already
|
0025| invested and insults the senator for whom it was named;
|
0001| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
|
0002| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state park and recreation division
|
0003| of the energy, minerals and natural resources department be
|
0004| requested to reopen Willie Chavez state park; and
|
0005| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
|
0006| transmitted to the secretary of energy, minerals and natural
|
0007| resources and the director of the state park and recreation
|
0008| division.
