0001| HOUSE CONSUMER AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR | 0002| HOUSE JOINT MEMORIAL 52 | 0003| 43rd legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - first session, 1997 | 0004| INTRODUCED BY | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| | 0011| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0012| REQUESTING THAT FORMER LEGISLATORS VISITING THE CAPITOL BE | 0013| GIVEN LOUNGE PASSES. | 0014| | 0015| WHEREAS, former legislators served their constituents and | 0016| all citizens of the state during their terms of office, working | 0017| tirelessly year round, often to the detriment of their own | 0018| families and businesses; and | 0019| WHEREAS, they served virtually without recompense; and | 0020| WHEREAS, former legislators can serve as a great resource | 0021| and historical perspective for current legislators; and | 0022| WHEREAS, when former legislators come to visit the | 0023| legislature when it is in session, they should have a place to | 0024| relax, meet with people and make local telephone calls; | 0025| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE | 0001| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the chief clerks work together to | 0002| develop a plan for the use of the house and senate lounges by | 0003| former legislators who are visiting during the legislative | 0004| session and who are not paid lobbyists; and | 0005| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0006| transmitted to the chief clerks. | 0007|  | 0008| | 0009| |
