0011|     REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR TO PROCLAIM THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE EACH

0012|     YEAR "NEW MEXICO AVIATION WEEK".
    |

0014|          WHEREAS, aviation is a critical element of the
    |
0015|     transportation infrastructure of the state; and
    |
0016|          WHEREAS, the aviation industry in New Mexico accounts for
    |
0017|     over two thousand five hundred direct jobs and generates over
    |
0018|     seventy-five million dollars ($75,000,000) in revenues; and
    |
0019|          WHEREAS, New Mexico has a long and accomplished aviation
    |
0020|     history, filled with notable aviation accomplishments and
    |
0021|     heroes; and
    |
0022|          WHEREAS, the traditional beginning of the "flying season"
    |
0023|     in the state is June 1 each year; and
    |
0024|          WHEREAS, the future of aviation relies on the exposure to
    |
0025|     aviation and the education of our state's children; and
    |
0001|          WHEREAS, the communities of New Mexico should recognize
    |
0002|     the importance of their airports and aviation to their economic
    |
0003|     and social well-being;
    |
0004|          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
    |
0005|     STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the governor be requested to proclaim
    |
0006|     the first week of June of each year "New Mexico Aviation Week";
    |
0007|     and
    |
0008|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
    |
0009|     transmitted to the governor and to the members of New Mexico's
    |
0010|     congressional delegation.
