WRIGHT | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING THE MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION TO DEVELOP A PERMANENT | 0012| HANDICAPPED LICENSE PLATE FOR THOSE PEOPLE PERMANENTLY DISABLED | 0013| TO AVOID BIENNIAL RENEWAL OF HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS. | 0014| | 0015| WHEREAS, partially disabled drivers must renew their | 0016| permits to park in handicapped parking spaces on a biennial | 0017| basis; and | 0018| WHEREAS, the current biennial renewal imposes unnecessary | 0019| and unfair costs on those drivers who are permanently partially | 0020| disabled; and | 0021| WHEREAS, unnecessary and duplicative medical costs as well | 0022| as bureaucratic costs are incurred by existing procedures; | 0023| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE | 0024| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the motor vehicle division of the | 0025| taxation and revenue department be requested to develop a | 0001| handicapped parking license plate for those drivers who are | 0002| certified by a medical professional to be permanently partially | 0003| disabled; and | 0004| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the motor vehicle division | 0005| report its progress in developing such a license plate to the | 0006| appropriate interim legislative committee by December 1, 1997; | 0007| and | 0008| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be | 0009| transmitted to the secretary of taxation and revenue. | 0010|  |
