0011|     REQUESTING THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

0012|     RESPECT TRADITIONAL RURAL COMMUNITIES, ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND

0013|     ENVIRONMENTAL VALUES AND INVOLVE LOCAL COMMUNITIES DURING

0014|     RECONSTRUCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 14.

0016|          WHEREAS,  state highway 14 is a scenically valuable
    |
0017|     roadway between Santa Fe and Cedar Crest, attracting
    |
0018|     significant tourist dollars to communities along the route; and
    |
0019|          WHEREAS,  the highway corridor traverses several
    |
0020|     traditional communities designated by Santa Fe county; and
    |
0021|          WHEREAS,  there are many archaeological sites also along
    |
0022|     the route; and
    |
0023|          WHEREAS,  these environmental, historic, prehistoric and
    |
0024|     culturally valued communities and sites may be damaged by
    |
0025|     construction of improvements to highway 14;
    |
0001|          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
    |
0002|     REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state
    |
0003|     highway and transportation department be requested to exercise
    |
0004|     care and sensitive planning in carrying out the reconstruction
    |
0005|     of state highway 14; and
    |
0006|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
    |
0007|     transmitted to the secretary of highway and transportation.
