0001| HOUSE MEMORIAL 19 | 0002| 43rd legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - first session, 1997 | 0003| INTRODUCED BY | 0004| JUDY VANDERSTAR RUSSELL | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT | 0012| RECOGNIZE THE URGENT NEED FOR WIDENING STATE ROAD 528 IN RIO | 0013| RANCHO AND THAT FUNDING BE DIRECTED FOR THIS CONSTRUCTION | 0014| PURPOSE. | 0015| | 0016| WHEREAS, traffic on New Mexico road 528 has increased to | 0017| an alarming volume due to the population growth in the city; | 0018| and | 0019| WHEREAS, the recent expansion of Intel corporation as well | 0020| as the opening of Cottonwood mall have added considerably to | 0021| the traffic on state road 528; and | 0022| WHEREAS, the roadway traffic currently exceeds forty-five | 0023| thousand vehicle trips per day; and | 0024| WHEREAS, preliminary studies indicate that this degree of | 0025| traffic qualifies for six-lane standards; and | 0001| WHEREAS, a corridor and environmental study for state road | 0002| 528 is underway, which will justify the need for improvements; | 0003| and | 0004| WHEREAS, the proposed widening project of state road 528 | 0005| is not in the state highway and transportation department's | 0006| four-year plan; | 0007| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE | 0008| OF NEW MEXICO that the state highway and transportation | 0009| department consider the urgency of the need to widen state road | 0010| 528 to six lanes from Southern boulevard to Coors bypass; and | 0011| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the state highway and | 0012| transportation department include this project as a high | 0013| priority in its budget planning; and | 0014| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be | 0015| transmitted to the secretary of highway and transportation and | 0016| the city administrator of Rio Rancho. | 0017|  | 0018| State of New Mexico | 0019| House of Representatives | 0020| | 0021| FORTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE | 0022| FIRST SESSION, 1997 | 0023| | 0024| | 0025| March 18, 1997 | 0001| | 0002| | 0003| Mr. Speaker: | 0004| | 0005| Your TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been | 0006| referred | 0007| | 0008| HOUSE MEMORIAL 19 | 0009| | 0010| has had it under consideration and reports same with | 0011| recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows: | 0012| | 0013| 1.
