0011|     REQUESTING THE NEW MEXICO VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION TO STUDY

0012|     THE FEASIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING NEW VETERANS' CEMETERIES IN THE

0013|     STATE OF NEW MEXICO.

0015|          WHEREAS, the national cemetery in Santa Fe is full; and
    |
0016|          WHEREAS, New Mexico has a large veteran population of over
    |
0017|     one hundred seventy thousand; and
    |
0018|          WHEREAS, it is incumbent on our society to honor the
    |
0019|     veterans who have served their nation with honor and love; and
    |
0020|          WHEREAS, veterans of our armed services who fought in wars 
    |
0021|     for the preservation of our liberty, freedom and strength will
    |
0022|     follow the course of all living things and succumb to the
    |
0023|     inevitable peace of death;
    |
0024|          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
    |
0025|     STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico veterans' service
    |
0001|     commission be requested to study the feasibility of
    |
0002|     establishing new veterans' cemeteries in New Mexico; and
    |
0003|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the commission complete its
    |
0004|     task by December 1, 1997 and report its progress to the
    |
0005|     appropriate interim committee of the legislature; and
    |
0006|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
    |
0007|     transmitted to the members of the New Mexico veterans' service
    |
0008|     commission.
