[NEW MATERIAL] STATE HIGHWAY AND | 0018| TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT--TRAFFIC SAFETY BUREAU--ANTI-DWI | 0019| CAMPAIGN.--The traffic safety bureau of the state highway and | 0020| transportation department shall organize and conduct an anti- | 0021| DWI traffic safety media campaign. Any distribution of the | 0022| liquor excise tax received by the department pursuant to | 0023| Subsection B of Section 7-1-6.40 NMSA 1978 shall be utilized | 0024| for the purpose of financing anti-DWI traffic safety media | 0025| campaigns. |

0001| Section 2. Section 7-1-6.40 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1997, | 0002| Chapter 182, Section 1), which is to become effective July 1, | 0003| 1998, is amended to read: | 0004| "7-1-6.40. DISTRIBUTION--[LOCAL DWI GRANT FUND] | 0005| LIQUOR EXCISE TAX.--A distribution pursuant to Section 7-1- | 0006| 6.1 NMSA 1978 shall be made to: | 0007| A. the local DWI grant fund in an amount equal | 0008| to twenty-seven and two-tenths percent of the net receipts | 0009| attributable to the liquor excise tax; and | 0010| B. the traffic safety bureau of the state highway | 0011| and transportation department in an amount equal to three | 0012| percent of the net receipts attributable to the liquor excise | 0013| tax for the purpose of conducting anti-DWI media campaigns." | 0014| Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE--The effective date of the | 0015| provisions of this act is July 1, 1998. | 0016| - 2 - |
