APPROPRIATION.--Five million dollars | 0016| ($5,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the | 0017| state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal | 0018| year 1999 for the purpose of making an additional distribution | 0019| to the first five school districts that submit qualified | 0020| proposals to the department to extend the district's school | 0021| calendar by not less than ten instructional days and not less | 0022| than five in-service days. The department shall establish | 0023| guidelines for proposals and shall fund the first five | 0024| qualified districts within the fiscal constraints of the | 0025| appropriation and within the guidelines established by the |

0001| department. Distributions shall be made to each qualified | 0002| district on a per unit basis. Any unexpended or unencumbered | 0003| balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert | 0004| to the general fund. | 0005|  |
