HOUSE CAPITAL OUTLAY REQUEST 238 STATE OF NEW MEXICO 43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998 REQUESTED BY FRANK BIRD FOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES THROUGHOUT THE STATE. I request that the following capital outlay projects be funded: to the extended learning fund: four million dollars ($4,000,000) to purchase equipment and provide infrastructure in support of the extended learning initiative; to the educational television equipment replacement fund: one million three hundred twenty-seven thousand dollars ($1,327,000) for the purpose of purchasing and providing improvements of broadcasting equipment; - 1 - to the educational technology fund: eleven million eight hundred thousand dollars ($11,800,000) to purchase equipment and provide infrastructure for voice and data connectivity for New Mexico public schools; and to the general services department: eight million dollars ($8,000,000) to upgrade the state's communication system to digital.
