                      STATE OF NEW MEXICO
            43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998

                           REQUESTED BY

FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN ESPANOLA IN RIO ARRIBA COUNTY.

     I request that the following capital outlay projects be
funded:

                    to the department of environment:
          
          A.  one million six hundred fifty thousand dollars
($1,650,000) to design, construct and install a flouride
treatment facility for the Espanola city water system in Rio
Arriba county; and

          B.  three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for a

wastewater treatment plan expansion study for the city of
Espanola in Rio Arriba county;

                    to the local government division of the department of
          finance and administration:
     
          A.  two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($225,000)
to purchase a ladder-equipped fire truck for the city of
Espanola's volunteer fire department in Rio Arriba county;

          B.  four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) to design
and construct an outdoor swimming pool enclosure for the city of
Espanola's therapy center in Rio Arriba county; and

          C.  two hundred seventy thousand dollars ($270,000) to
design a new library building in the city of Espanola in Rio
Arriba county; and



                    to the state highway and transportation department:
     
                    two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) for a
          comprehensive median removal project in the city of
          Espanola in Rio Arriba county.
