  Mr. Speaker:
  
       Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
  
                       HOUSE MEMORIAL 1
                               
  has had it under consideration and reports same with
  recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
  
       1.   On page 1, line 13, strike "PILOT PROGRAM", and insert
  in lieu thereof, "TO STUDY THE POTENTIAL OF USING VOLUNTEER
  SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS". 
  
       2.   On page 1, line 23, after "employees", insert ",other
  professional community members".
  
       3.   On page 1, line 25, after "teachers", insert "based on
  school policy".
  
       4.   On page 2, line 7, after the second occurrence of "and",
  insert "other".
  
       5.   On page 2, line 9, after "that", strike "the state
  department of", strike line 10 in its entirety, and on line 11,
  strike "schools a pilot program", and insert in lieu thereof,
  "that the results of the study be sent to the legislative
  education study committee and the house education committee".
