SENATE EXECUTIVE MESSAGE NO. 11

The Honorable Manny M. Aragon and

Members of the Senate

Executive-Legislative Building

Santa Fe, New Mexico 87503

Honorable President and Members of the Senate:

I have this day VETOED and am returning SENATE BILL 101, enacted by the Forty-Fourth Legislature, First Session, 1999.

This legislation requires the Human Services Department to secure a waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture before it begins a Wage Subsidy Pilot Project. According to the Human Services Department, the United States Department of Agriculture does not require such a waiver. Furthermore, the Human Services Department is currently developing a Wage Subsidy Pilot Project consistent with current law which will be incorporated as an amendment to their food stamp state plan. Accordingly, this legislation is not necessary.

Sincerely,

Gary E. Johnson

Governor
