I have this day VETOED and am returning SENATE BILL 688, enacted by the Forty-Fourth Legislature, First Session, 1999.

This legislation increases the compensation for salaried state government elected officials. I do not believe that salary increases of this rather substantial magnitude are warranted at this time.
