MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND THE EXPANSION OF A SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR FIVE-YEAR-OLD STUDENTS IN THE SANTA FE PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Ninety thousand dollars ($90,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of funding the expansion of a summer school program in the Santa Fe public school district for five-year-old students who have not previously attended pre-school. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
