AN ACT

RELATING TO THE LEGISLATURE; PROVIDING THAT AN OATH BE ADMINISTERED TO WITNESSES TESTIFYING BEFORE THE LEGISLATURE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. Section 2-1-2 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1912, Chapter 1, Section 1) is amended to read:

"2-1-2. LEGISLATURE--POWERS OF OFFICERS--ADMINISTER OATHS TO WITNESSES.--The presiding officer of the senate, the speaker of the house of representatives, [or] the chairman of any committee of either house or the chairman of any joint committee of both houses of the legislature shall [have power to] administer an oath to any witness who may appear to testify at any investigation being had by either of [said] the houses of the legislature or any committee or joint committee [thereof] of the legislature."
