Your APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred



HOUSE BILL 162, as amended



has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:



1. Strike House Education Committee Amendment 1.



2. On page 1, lines 15 and 16 strike "Eighty thousand dollars $80,000)" and insert in lieu thereof "Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000)".



3. On page 1, line 16 strike "general fund" and insert in lieu thereof "revenue received from gifts, grants, donations or bequests specified for an environmental coordinator position".



4. On page 1, line 18 after "2000" insert "and subsequent fiscal years".



5. On page 1, line 19, after the period strike the remainder of the line, strike lines 20 and 21, and insert in lieu thereof "The environmental education coordinator shall work with the help and advice of the environmental education advisory council. The council shall consist of volunteers who represent industry, agriculture, nonprofit organizations, state and federal agencies, institutions of higher learning, educators, private sector business and the public at large. These individuals shall also represent the geographic diversity of the state. Members of the council shall be invited to participate through the cooperative effort between the waste-management education and research consortium and the state land office. The purpose of the environmental education coordinator is to increase awareness of existing environmental education and natural resources programming resources among formal and non-formal educators, students in pre-service programs, teachers in-service programs and other resource staff at the university level and in public, private and home schools.".
