AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR STATEWIDE EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of providing or contracting for early childhood services and programs with the emphasis on needs in rural areas, including community-based, in-home and school programs, family support services and education, and programs and home visiting for special needs children. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
