AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH A PATIENT PROTECTION OMBUDSMAN IN THE DIVISION OF INSURANCE OF THE PUBLIC REGULATION COMMISSION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the division of insurance of the public regulation commission for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the establishment and operation of a patient protection ombudsman office in the division of insurance to assist in the implementation of the Patient Protection Act. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
