AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STUDY OF THE FEASIBILITY OF EXTENDING NATURAL GAS SERVICE TO TIERRA AMARILLA AND OTHER UNSERVED COMMUNITIES IN THAT AREA OF NORTHERN NEW MEXICO; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal years 1999 and 2000 for the purpose of contracting for a study of the feasibility of extending natural gas service to the communities of Tierra Amarilla, Los Ojos, Los Brazos, Ensenada, Rutheron, Plaza Blanca, La Puente and surrounding areas in northern New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
