AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A DROPOUT PREVENTION PROGRAM IN THE GADSDEN SCHOOL DISTRICT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred forty thousand dollars ($140,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education to contract with a statewide nonprofit provider for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of implementing a dropout prevention program in the Gadsden school district that will use state-of-the-art computer technology, individualized alternative education curriculum, employability life skills training, academic and career assessments and work experience. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
