AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS TO EACH PUBLIC SCHOOL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Thirty-three million dollars ($33,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of distributing to each public school its by-school distribution for the development of educational technology programs, including the acquisition and installation of educational technology. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.

B. The state department of public education shall establish an application procedure for the distribution of funds to each public school for the establishment of educational technology programs, including the acquisition and installation of educational technology. Each public school may apply directly to the state department of public education for funding.
