AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR RESTORATION OF WATERSHED FUNCTIONS IN RANGELANDS OF NEW MEXICO.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to New Mexico state university for allocation to soil and water conservation districts statewide for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of conducting a collaborative program of range improvements, including watershed restoration and vegetation management to improve water quality and hydrologic function, to be led by soil and water conservation districts in cooperation with the youth conservation corps and other federal, state and local agencies. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
