AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH THE INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC SERVICE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for the institute of public law for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 for the purpose of establishing the institute of public service to improve the understanding, policymaking and administration of government by providing nonpartisan training, research and technical assistance to public officials and community leaders and promoting civics education and citizen involvement in the political process. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
