AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO RECRUIT AND ASSIST TEACHERS WHO WISH TO OBTAIN NATIONAL BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS CERTIFICATION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of recruiting and assisting qualified New Mexico teachers who wish to become certified by the national board for professional teaching standards. No more than four percent of this appropriation may be used for administrative costs incurred by the department. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
