AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FOSTER CARE SERVICES FOR ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eight hundred thousand dollars ($800,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of contracting for foster care services with private agencies for abused and neglected children and for increasing payment rates to foster care parents, institutions and agencies. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
