MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND A PAY INCREASE FOR ALL CERTIFIED TEACHERS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty million dollars ($50,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 to provide all certified teachers in the public schools a pay increase of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500). Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
