AN ACT

RELATING TO TELECOMMUNICATIONS REGULATION; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public regulation commission for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 for the purpose of conducting a comprehensive investigation and rate case of U S WEST's operations and rates in the state, including the employment or retention of experts to assist commission staff in the investigation and case presentation. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
