AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE RIO GRANDE EDUCATIONAL COLLABORATION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Nine hundred fifteen thousand seven hundred ninety-three dollars ($915,793) is appropriated from the general fund to the following educational institutions in the following amounts for expenditure in fiscal year 2000 for the purpose of participating in the Rio Grande educational collaborative that will reduce the dropout rate and expose grades kindergarten through twelve students to college and career opportunities through service learning, teacher professional development and mentorship through business communication:

(1) one hundred ninety-five thousand two hundred ten dollars ($195,210) to the governing board of the Albuquerque technical-vocational institute;

(2) three hundred four thousand thirteen dollars ($304,013) to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico; and

(3) four hundred sixteen thousand five hundred seventy dollars ($416,570) to the state department of public education for use in the Albuquerque public school system.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.
