SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill



HB 198 appropriates $300.2 to the Health Policy Commission from the General Fund for expenditure in FY00 to enhance existing programs.



Significant Issues



The funds will break down into the following expenditures:



- $61.4 for a health care financial analyst

- $67.2 for a hospital quality information systems analyst

- $41.6 for contractual services to improve the Geographic Access Data System

- $130.0 to inventory, develop, and maintain health data standards



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



This bill appropriates $300.2 from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



According to the Health Policy Commission, the agency will absorb any administrative costs within their existing capacity.

HB 2 contains an aggregated appropriation for health and human services. SB 2 contains a general fund appropriation for HPC base operations.
