Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 579 appropriates $550.0 from the general fund to the Department of Health in FY 2000 for the following purposes: $250.0 to fund a community dental clinic in Clovis in Curry county; $300.0 to fund a community health clinic in Clovis in Curry county.



Significant Issues



Provision of health care services in underserved areas of New Mexico is important to the economic livelihood of the rural areas of the state. These monies are in addition to the monies in the appropriations bills in both houses that address rural primary care issues and the development of community based clinics.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



The Department of Health has the necessary fiscal controls to monitor and control these projects.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



Administration of these monies is within the budgeted capacity of this department.
